[He's been given so much to think about these days. After his talk with Akito, that negativity, while not necessarily dampening his spirit, did get to him somewhat. To think that people still thought that way...it was a little frustrating, after everything he had fought for--

And then...A parrot and a missing name on the contact's list. It's little wonder his expression is contemplative, bordering a little, perhaps, on quietly sad.

It isn't like him to use his SFC, no, except for answering other's calls or privately calling others, but this is something he needs to do.

And perhaps...well, loneliness is something that he doesn't much deal with, normally, but even for someone like him, to lose is lonely. No matter how much he gets used to it.

But when he turns to the screen, his expression is as calm as always. There is...also a yellow parrot on his shoulder, which might be familiar to anyone who knew a [Bad username or site: treasurehunted title= @ livejournal.com]. The parrot seems to find picking up strands of blue hair and dropping them entertaining, so that is what it is doing.

Minato doesn't seem to mind--or at least, he ignores it.]

Is anyone familiar with how to take care of large birds?

[He tilts his head, shifting--the parrot squawks before steadying itself from the movement.]

Any advice would be appreciated.

[He hesitates a moment more--it's his duty to look after this parrot, right? If...aniki is gone, as it seems to be.

And then a flap of large wings--the bird is rather too large to sit comfortable on Minato's small frame--and he fumbles with the SFC as a result--]

Ah--

[And the feed clicks off.

He seems pretty distressed... would you like me to come try and talk to him?

[Distressed...of course he's distressed. He's away from his actual owner.

But Minato nods, running a hand through his hair.]

Yes, please. If it isn't too much trouble.

Sure enough, it does not take N that long to show up and start knocking on Minato's door. How does he know exactly where Minato lives? Surely you told him at some point.

...or maybe you shouldn't think too hard about that. ]

[...Yeah he won't think too hard about that one. Instead he simply opens the door, nodding a little--the bird, who has migrated to sitting on his head, squawks again.

And quietly--]

Thank you for coming.

[For the help and...the company both, even if he won't say that.]

You're welcome.

[ N smiles at Minato, then up at the bird. He holds his hand up towards the parrot for investigation, if he feels so inclined; he does not realize what he is also doing is reaching out mentally. ]

What is your name? How did you come to be with Minato?

[And the parrot does seem somewhat calmer in N's presence, which is a bit of a relief--it is no surprise that he's upset, though. He doesn't know where his pirate is, after all. And Minato is the person he remembers to be around his pirate most, so that is who he is staying with until his pirate shows up again.

Which had better be soon--Chibioni is not a particularly patient bird.

Minato himself is patient, letting N do whatever it is he is doing, though he does comment quietly--]

His name is Chibioni.

Chibioni. It's nice to meet you, Chinbioni.

[ N offers an arm for the parrot to hop onto. ]

Who is his pirate? Is he away somewhere?

[And the parrot goes! Marvel of all marvels--meanwhile, Minato isn't jealous, but instead just glad that the parrot is more content with N.

Oh--that question.]

Chosokabe Motochika--he...returned home. So he isn't here anymore.

[ N frowns, reaching up to rub the back of the parrot's neck with his free hand. ]

Your pirate left Vatheon. I'm sorry.

But there's always a chance he'll come back. It might just take a little while.

[Minato simply tucks his hands into his pockets, watching N deal with the parrot. He doesn't seem all too pleased by the insinuation that Aniki is gone, but other than squawking some and flapping his wings, he remains calm.

A quiet pause.]

You're very good with him.

[With all animals, he bets. That's where N's strengths lie, huh?]

Animals aren't that much different from Pokemon, really.

[ N smiles at Chibioni, continuing the neck rubs to try and comfort him. ]

[Well it'd be a lie to say the bird isn't enjoying the attention from someone who knows what he's doing, though not Motochika. He'll be a terror later about it.]

It seems not. ...Though Chibioni isn't made of steel.

[Something in his tone says he's very grateful he isn't like a skarmory or any other flying Pokemon.]

[ N chuckles. ]

Yes, that's true... all animals seem to be of a normal type.

[Nod nod.]

I suppose you could call them that.

[...c: And then a vaguely amused smile.]

Immune to ghost and weak to fighting, isn't it?

[He only vaguely remembers the game. But he'll just pass this off as knowledge gotten from Red, if questioned.]

[ N beams at him. ]

I'm surprised you know that.

[...welp.]

I like to learn--particularly about these Pokemon, while I have the chance.

[So he does understand N's desire to learn as well. He has studied plenty for that very reason.]

I doubt we should have Chibioni take on a Pokemon, however.

[ N chuckled. ]

No, I don't think that would be a good idea. I doubt he has moves like a Pokemon does.

[...]

I meant for the Pokemon's sake.

[/DEADPAN.

Okay he didn't really mean that, but this is a demon bird, and he is very good with his lineface.]

[ Wait, wha--

Oh. N gets it and cracks a smile. ]

He's not that bad.

[ Look at him, sitting pretty on N's arm like a good bird. ]

[. . . . . . .

yeah okay whatever. Behave for N, demon bird.]

He does live up to his name.

[It's easy enough for him to translate, since it's in Japanese. But he considers the bird, tucking his hands into his pockets.]

But we'll have to get along, at the very least.

I'm sure you will get along. Won't you, Chibioni?

[ The parrot gets more neck rubs, and makes pleasant sound.

You know that devilish smile children give to their siblings as they hug their mothers, promising they will treat their little brother better? The smile that means as soon as mom has turned her back, the shit will be beat out of you?

Congratulations, Minato. You are now getting the bird version of it.

[WHAT IS HIS LIFE]

[He sees that. Stares at the bird.

Glances at N. Stares back at the bird.

And his lineface simply deepens. He can handle one devil birds. Even if said devil bird seems to think he took away his Aniki. Yeah. Sure.]

I...am sure we will. Somehow. We had a dog back at the dorms but a bird is something else entirely.

I'm sure you'll both get used to each other. I can ask Chibioni what he needs, if you would like. I am not sure what animal flying-types need, myself.

[And somehow he can't quite crush that optimism, but N you are holding a demon bird--

Still, he nods.]

I would appreciate that. I'm sure Chibioni can take care of himself, but I'd like to do what I can as well.
