[Video] 004 ☽
[He's been given so much to think about these days. After his talk with Akito, that negativity, while not necessarily dampening his spirit, did get to him somewhat. To think that people still thought that way...it was a little frustrating, after everything he had fought for--
And then...A parrot and a missing name on the contact's list. It's little wonder his expression is contemplative, bordering a little, perhaps, on quietly sad.
It isn't like him to use his SFC, no, except for answering other's calls or privately calling others, but this is something he needs to do.
And perhaps...well, loneliness is something that he doesn't much deal with, normally, but even for someone like him, to lose is lonely. No matter how much he gets used to it.
But when he turns to the screen, his expression is as calm as always. There is...also a yellow parrot on his shoulder, which might be familiar to anyone who knew a [Bad username or site: treasurehunted title= @ livejournal.com]. The parrot seems to find picking up strands of blue hair and dropping them entertaining, so that is what it is doing.
Minato doesn't seem to mind--or at least, he ignores it.]
Is anyone familiar with how to take care of large birds?
[He tilts his head, shifting--the parrot squawks before steadying itself from the movement.]
Any advice would be appreciated.
[He hesitates a moment more--it's his duty to look after this parrot, right? If...aniki is gone, as it seems to be.
And then a flap of large wings--the bird is rather too large to sit comfortable on Minato's small frame--and he fumbles with the SFC as a result--]
Ah--
[And the feed clicks off.
Oops?]

[A pause]
A lot of it has to do with what I told you before, though—about our planet really being Earth.

no subject
[He thinks for a moment, trying to decide where to start.]
Minato... do you think humans can coexist with another intelligent life form?
no subject
[Is that what he was asking...?]
no subject
I think so too! But... it wouldn't be easy, would it?
no subject
No, it wouldn't. People will always have a fear of those that are different from themselves, and fear breeds prejudice and hatred. Those barriers would have to be overcome first for the two to be able to live in harmony.
[He has always known people very well.]
no subject
That's definitely true. But... if people gave up on something because it was difficult to achieve, then nothing would ever get done, right?
[On the opposite end, Renton hasn't. Now, though... he thinks he's come to understand the world a bit better.]
no subject
Of course. There are always some things worth working for and fighting for.
[And that's what you're working towards, Renton? He gets it.]
That's a noble goal to have.
no subject
'Don't ask for it. Go out and win it. Do that and you'll be rewarded.' That's what I believe in.
[He looks a tad surprised at that.]
I-Is it? I never really thought about it...
[At the very least, he'd always been surrounded by people with the same goal, so to hear something like that...]
no subject
You're right. Sometimes that's the only way to accomplish what's necessary.
[Huh. That's...a kid who doesn't know, huh? It's a little cute, how unassuming that is.]
It is. Don't you think so? Working towards a goal for the better of everyone--if more people did so, the world would only improve.
no subject
I guess that's true... but! Everyone else in the Gekkostate is giving it their all too, so it's not like it's just us.
no subject
Even better. Then you'll be able to convince others to help you as well, and of your cause. That's good to hear, Renton-kun.
It's possible for everyone to work towards a noble cause, after all.
no subject
There's a pause as he stares, touched. Then he nods, smiling and looking close to tears.]
Yeah! We're a pretty small group right now, but we've made it through everything that's been thrown at us so far. Even when Holland tried to disband us!
no subject
Well that's something Minato can fix, at least.]
Disband...?
Well, it seems like it's a good thing you didn't disband, and that you made it through.
no subject
Mm-hmm. It was because he was planning on executing a risky mission, but... it wasn't really any different from what we were fighting for all along, so none of us left.
[A grin]
He was really surprised!
no subject
...I'm sure he was grateful to have such a loyal team.
no subject
Well... we're all really close! Kind of like a family, I guess.
no subject
no subject
[Even if Talho said they weren't made to be some big happy family and Renton knows it...]
So I guess technically, there isn't much of a difference between us and your typical 'family', huh?
[... Dimly, he wonders if he should've used past tense while he was talking.]
no subject
I'm not sure, Renton-kun. But I also don't think it matters. You don't have to be a typical family, right? You already know that you are your own sort of family, typical or not.
no subject
Yeah, I guess I'm thinking too hard about this. Though I wonder if that makes Eureka and the kids a family within a family, then...
no subject
Maybe just multiple families. I don't believe there's a limit.
no subject
[Eureka and the kids, the Gekkostate, his biological family...
There's another flicker of sadness on his face, as he recalls the fourth family—the family that no longer exists.]
no subject
They never replace the one you lost, do they?
But they do add on more to our lives, at least.
[He understands completely--both the loss and the gain, for he's been through both as well.]
no subject
[He blinks.]</small. The one I lost?
