Minato's response came in the form of quietly watching Izaya move, unflinching as he dropped his lollipop stick into the trash, merely sitting in his chair with the snapped headphones in his lap.
Objectifying the idea of destruction...it was clear that Izaya was taking it much less seriously than that. Minato knew destruction rather well by this point; snapping a pair of headphones that were already broken, well-loved or not, didn't mean much of anything. It was just an action, a choice Izaya had made. Minato pondered this as the second answer came.
Because he was bored...? That seemed more likely, if as saddening. That meant destruction for the sake of destruction...which was far more upsetting, in a way, than the loss of his already not functioning headphones. Minato sighed quietly at that, shaking his head and looking up at the man now perched on the arm of his chair. Movement movement movement--Izaya-san was always moving. Minato wondered why. Was there something about sitting still that he didn't like...?
There were a lot of mysteries still about the man that had just snapped his headphones.
But Minato's response was simple. He glanced down at the headphones and then shook his head. "No, I think I'll keep them, even if they can't be fixed."
Why? Because he'd never been one to throw away "junk". A broken screw, a used lighter, some athletic tape, an old letter--he kept those sorts of things. They were important to him.
So too were his headphones, and so, fixable or not, he would hold onto them. As for the rest--
Minato, of course, focused on what he found to be more important. "That's right. Christmas is coming up. Is there anything you want for Christmas?"
