[When the SFC clicks on the first thing to be seen is a Zorua peering curiously into the screen; it would appear we know the culprit for turning it on.]

--Benzomaru, come on.

[The Zorua moves away cheerfully to show a blue-haired protagonist sitting at what looks like the Welcoming Committee desk, if the papers and the pictures of a cheerful Pikachu behind him are any indication. It looks like he didn't mean to make the broadcast at all, but what can you do when you've got a very mischievous Pokemon?

He reaches for his headphones then, lifting them to his ears and fiddling with his MP3 player for a moment--

But only for a brief moment, because then he frowns and lowers the headphones, looking them over with a curiously sad expression coming from him. The Zorua yips at him and he sighs, nodding.]

I think they're broken...

[It's just a pair of headphones, right? He does look rather sad about it, though--

But regardless, the Zorua takes his voice as an invitation, jumping up and knocking the SFC off the desk. It clatters to the ground, and--

[Oh thank god for the library and its spread of knowledge. Guy's been wanting to fiddle with some electrical work ever since he got his hands on books discussing modern technology... and this might just be his chance.

They don't look worn or frayed anywhere. They're a little too far from the screen to be sure, though, and Guy can only see so much by squinting at the SFC.]

Electronics are still kind of new to me. If you'd like, though, I could take a look at them. It might just be an easy fix, unless you've dunked them in water recently.

[Yukari is doing some work at the committee today, too. She's glancing over as all this is happening, and she gives a quiet sigh, walking over to take a look at the damage. She can see he's had a lot of offers already to fix it, but--]

[He glances over in return, blinking up at her.]

It was a relatively usual day for Orihara Izaya. Minus the ridiculous amount of Christmas decoration that seemed to insist on infesting his life as of late. Not that he didn't expect it but it was something he tried to ignore regardless. As Izaya walked along, he merely contemplated life with his head tilted back and eyes focused on the clear sphere surrounding the city. A narrow white stick stuck out of his mouth, something edible obviously in the side of his mouth.

It was during this contemplation that he noticed something familiar out of the corner of his eye. Mid-step, he stopped. The Welcoming Committee building. At times, Izaya thought that he ought to join. He hung around the fountain almost constantly to see who would come through. The only problem was that he didn't always have the best intentions for the people who came through. It wasn't the building that had caught his eye but instead what he could see through the windows.

Minato.

He took a step back and hugged himself against the side of the building, staring in from around the corner. He watched the little pokemon fritz around and his eyes slowly rolled up to Minato's face. What was with that expression?

Izaya turned to leave. But then he turned to stay. And then to leave...to stay...Eventually, the informant's shoulders heaved in a silent sigh and he walked around to the front of the building and swung open the door.

"Hey Minato-kun~," he greeted smoothly, approaching the desk and instantly inviting himself to sit down on top of it, leaning onto one hand and more importantly- towards Minato. He pulled out of his mouth a red lollipop, a treat he didn't usually indulge in, and pointed it at Minato.

"What's with the face?"

SFC pushed off to one side now, Zorua taken care of, Minato was busily at work and didn't notice Izaya walking by. He had plenty to do, it was true; with the Defense Force and the Welcoming Committee both on his shoulders, it was all he could do to keep up with it all (and his many, many friends in Vatheon).

Ah, and Christmas was coming up as well, wasn't it? It wasn't something he often celebrated back home; it wasn't as big a holiday in Japan. But in Vatheon it seemed things were a little different, and Minato was better at adapting than anything else. That, at least, was something that had been proven time and time again.

Thus, he had a lot on his mind; it wasn't that surprising, really, that he didn't notice Izaya at first. Even when the door opened, he did not look up from his list, pencil tapping on the paper--

And then the familiar voice.

Minato blinked, a little startled despite himself, and looked up at the man now sitting on his desk, pushing his chair back slightly so he could do so properly.

"Oh...Izaya-san. Hello." There was a pause as he absorbed the rest...and then he responded quietly. "It's not that big of a deal. I think my headphones are broken."

He glanced at the pair of silver headphones lying in a heap on the desk. He knew that they were just that--headphones. But they were also, aside from his MP3 player, the only thing Minato had ever bought for himself. He treasured them, and it wasn't surprising, truly, that he was a little melancholic about it.
