Minato's looked and looked for Izuku... but it's gotten pretty obvious that wherever he ended up, he has no idea how to find him. That... he has to be somewhere is something Minato's holding onto, but barely.
But.
Then... there's that message, and when Minato checks the laptop that day out of habit, he ends up blinking and staring for a lot longer than is usual for him. It's...]
Are you okay, Midoriya-kun? Are you hurt or anything?
I was a little disoriented when I woke up...at the well?
[Even through text, he sounds really confused about that.]
I'm okay, though. My color's back to normal and everything. [Aside from his font, which appears to have lost that eye searing yellow from before, strangely enough.]
What about you and Strider-kun? The shadows were getting really aggressive...I was worried.
[He needs to see it to believe it. After all of that... he needs to be sure.]
Got it. I'm on my way.
[And off he goes. Flavo's not all too close to where he is, but he'll head that way nonetheless, and some fifteen minutes later, he's knocking on the door, tenseness only showing in how deeply his hands are shoved into his pockets.]
[Ever since that message exchange, Izuku's been on standby, waiting for his friend to arrive. The knock immediately sends him jumping to his feet to open the door.]
Arisato-kun... [Izuku smiles at him uncertainly, though the relief in his eyes is obvious.]
[... And some of the tenseness fades as soon as he sees him. Izuku really does look...fine. He looks just fine, as though it had never happened--his color is back, he doesn't look tired...
Aside from his uncertainty, Izuku looks fine.
And softly, Minato breathes out a quiet sigh of relief.]
... I'm so glad you're okay.
[... Another slow breath in, and he bows his head properly]
I'm... so sorry we couldn't do anything to save you.
[... Izuku... there are definitely some tears there, and Minato breathes out a soft sigh. Well... Izuku seems okay. As okay as he could be in a situation like this...]
I'm definitely okay.
[He shakes his head quietly. They could go back and forth on the guilt forever--there's no need for that. Instead?]
I'm...really, really glad that you're okay too. Welcome back, Midoriya-kun.
Y-yeah, I'm fine. [He breathes in deeply, reminding himself that he needs to pull it together. Even if he's still scared and confused, he needs to be able to smile through it.]
I should be asking about you and Strider-kun, though. What happened after....I got taken?

Instead, he ignores that.]
Is it okay if I come by and see you?

[It'll be reassuring to see him in person, rather than just messaging each other like this.]

[And because he's a dweeb who can't even follow his own directions, he lowers his head in a bow as well, squeezing his eyes shut.]
I'm really sorry for making you worry! And for not being able to hold my own and help you guys fight the shadows off longer.

You don't have anything to apologize for either. You, especially, don't have anything to apologize for, Midoriya-kun.
[How could any of them have known any of this was going to happen?]
You didn't do anything wrong.

I'm...just so relieved that you're okay. [When his eyes start welling up with tears, Izuku's not even surprised.]

[Izuku shuffles back into the room and sits down at the table, gesturing for Minato to do the same. They have a lot to talk about.]
What happened after I...got eaten? That really happened, right? I didn't just imagine it?
no subject
[He murmurs that softly...and then shakes his head.]
We looked for you. Dave and I did, I mean. But we couldn't find you anywhere...
[He still has no idea where Izuku went after that.]
no subject
If the shadow ate me... how can I still be here?
[He's not complaining, far from it. But what does this mean?]
no subject
You definitely, definitely didn't die. Because you're right here.
[Minato says that firmly, reaching out to gently touch Izuku's shoulder.]
Wherever that shadow took you... that's all it was. It took you away for a bit, but it gave you back.
no subject
That's...definitely a better alternative than what I thought happened.

[He says that firmly, because:]
If it was anything else--I think we'd know.
[Also--]
And you feel okay now, right?

I should be asking about you and Strider-kun, though. What happened after....I got taken?

... We searched for you, mostly. We couldn't find you anywhere, though.
[... He shakes his head, breathing out a sigh.]
And then we had to accept it, and go check on John--Dave was worried.
no subject
Makes sense. Egbert-kun's his best friend... I'd check on Uraraka-san and the others after something like that happened, too.

[He still feels bad that they couldn't have searched for Izuku more, even though he knows they wouldn't have been able to find him.
It just...feels wrong to leave his friends behind.
But Dave was the one who needed help then--and he knew he had to stay with him (for all the good that had done).]
Either way... I'm just really relieved that you're here. [It was a very, very tense time.] Thanks...for making it back, Midoriya-kun.
