[You know who's never seen snow before? This desert kid, that's who.
He's out on the streets, looking up into the sky as, with childlike fascination, he watches the flurry blow about. He has a hand held up, where snowflakes occasionally land upon; it's an awe to see them ultimately melt.
... Admittedly, he's kind of freezing right now because even with his sand mantle, his clothes were definitely not meant to handle this temperature, but.
Anyway, hi, Minato. Ouni doesn't seem to notice him yet (that, or he's just ignoring his presence).]
On the one hand? It's cute. It's an expression Minato hasn't seen on Ouni's face before (granted, the expressions he has seen are Grumpy, Confused and Extra Grumpy), so he takes a moment to just enjoy the fact that Ouni, too, can be awed by things like this.
And then he disappears back into his...well, house, even if he's still unsure about referring to it in that way considering the circumstances, and returns with a blanket.
If he knew Ouni better, he'd drape it over his shoulders, but he doesn't and he feels as though startling him would be bad, so instead he walks up to his side and offers him the blanket by kind of shoving it into his arms. And:]
Iโve finished assigning everyone who signed up for combat training and exercises. Your new teacher is called Kyrie. Reach him at #FFE094. Youโre both adaptable as far as weapons go. If you both need something in place of a sword, I have some sturdy branches that I carved into shapes that should work. Or you can get creative; I donโt care.
The guy youโre sparring is called Akira. Heโs at #EA0000. He lives in the same house as me, so do me a favor and manage to kick his ass.
There are no changes. If you back out of this, youโre letting everyone down, so go tell them yourself and donโt waste my time again. Iโm not holding your hand through all of this, but you can let me know if you have questions. Thatโs all.
Hey. Donโt worry about doing anything with this immediately, but Iโm giving you a second teacher. I know the first one I gave you is kind of a pain, so this one should be more traditional. Use your sword. He can teach you some technique.
Goes by Kohaku, username #FFBF00. Thatโs all, unless you've got questions.
[It's a weird mood that's been hanging over Izuku the past few days, and he finds himself wandering through the town just so he doesn't have to stay in one place.
Lost in his thoughts, he almost misses it. Izuku walks about three steps past the odd statue in front of one of the houses, pauses, does a double take, and then backtracks quickly.]
What the... [That looks like an eerily accurate statue of the troll he'd met that first day.]
[Minato's taken to sitting by the window when he's on the laptop.
Not for the view (things are still pretty grey and grim) but because... Vriska's statue form is out there, and while he hasn't figured out yet how to restore her to life (he's tried magic, samarecarm and salvation and the like, when nobody's around, to no avail), he has to make sure people don't mess with her.
So when he catches a glimpse of someone approaching out of the corner of his eye, he hops over immediately to make sure--
[ "grabbing egbert" involved basically just dropping by john's ghostbuster dreams post (nts: mock him about that later) and telling john to meet him at the well, after which he simply dragged his best friend over to minato's place as per the directions he was given.
it's less dragging and more walking with, since john never puts up That much of a fight if dave digs his heels in about something but whatever.
he waves at minato (?) or will knock on the door (?) whichever comes first okay. whatever the case, the first thing he says is: ]
Are we sure we don't have a rampant medusa on the loose? Or a basilisk? I mean, we have harpies. Maybe Voldemort has come for our asses.
[For once he's not super jovial, but rather he's a little unhappy even as he follows Dave into Minato's house. He's a little confused about this statue business, but John being John still lets out an amused little huff when Dave rambles on.]
Basilisks only petrify people, dummy. They don't turn them into statues. [He waves at Minato, too.] Hey.
[Are any of them really busy in a place like this... he's mostly just staring at statue Vriska in his front yard and that's depressing so WHAT'S HAPPENING, OCHAKO.]
Minato's looked and looked for Izuku... but it's gotten pretty obvious that wherever he ended up, he has no idea how to find him. That... he has to be somewhere is something Minato's holding onto, but barely.
But.
Then... there's that message, and when Minato checks the laptop that day out of habit, he ends up blinking and staring for a lot longer than is usual for him. It's...]
Are you okay, Midoriya-kun? Are you hurt or anything?
[He'd noticed something when glancing at the other replies in Guren's forum post. "Mitsuru-senpai" Minato had said. Even if Minato hadn't made a big deal of it, he did just lose someone from his world, and Izuku thinks that's worth a check in.]
Arisato-kun, are you doing okay? If I'd known Kirijo-san was your friend, I would have asked you earlier.
[... Oh. This is a surprise, even though it probably shouldn't be. This is just... how Izuku is, right? Of course... he's worried. Of course he picked up on something like that.
...]
I'm okay. But yeah, Mitsuru-senpai was someone from home... but after Keith-san's post, I feel as though it's a lot more likely that she went into the forest and ended up back home, just like Keith-san did.
[At least, that's what he's telling himself so he doesn't totally freak out.]
[ Elizabeth is on a Mission after speaking with Lupin and Dave, so she had immediately been set on trying to figure out just what was turning people into statues, of all things. She wanted to go see Vriska, since if there was someone else still in that state, it would certainly be a better start than nothing. However... She hadn't quite remembered just how the forum worked. She knew she had to contact Minato, but looking at a series of hexadecimal usernames with little association? It's less than ideal, and she makes a mental note to try and map these out when she has a chance.
But it's not impossible. She reads through the posts, trying to find a match to Minato.
And reads.
And reads.
And comes to the conclusion that many of the people in this town were quite strange, and she's had enough of this already. She'll do this in a way that at least gets her moving instead of stuck at a desk all day. It definitely takes a while with no real idea of where Minato lives other than (she would guess) blue, but likely just by going door to door... There's a knock at Minato's door. ]
[Wow, Elizabeth, he could be red!! Stop color profiling him!!
... Okay, no, naturally he's blue, and then there's a knock at the door and Minato's thankfully home, working on one of those sewing projects Ochako left him with so as to not totally panic over Mitsuru's absence--
So he's pretty quick to set it all aside, moving on over to the door to open it up.
Oh...]
Elizabeth-san. It's good to see you around and about again.
[Sorry about your statue life; he read about it on the forum.]
Minato wasn't expecting that at all. Somehow, he'd thought Ryoji would be immune to things like that. He's... he's Ryoji. He basically can't be killed, and yet--
And yet this place can turn him to stone.
....... It's a pretty heavy thing to learn following Mitsuru's disappearance, and feels almost directly targeted.]
Thank you for letting me know, Midoriya-kun. I'll come by later to check on him, if that's okay. I don't doubt you, but this is the sort of thing I want to see for myself, if that makes sense.
In accordance with the town's orders, and as payment for your kindness and generosity, tonight, the Gentleman Thief Arsรจne Lupin will grant you, deserving friend, a single wish.
[Oh. Right. Of course Guren picked up on that; he shouldn't be surprised, but he'd kind of been hoping that Guren would be distracted by everything he was setting up.
(There's something kind of warming about the fact that he noticed even so, but Minato just doesn't know how to deal with it either.)]
I was. [There's no point in denying it.] She was my senpai from home. Hopefully she was able to go home, just like Keith-san, and just wasn't brought back.
[She's in a much better mood now that she's both back from the forest and no longer fearing zombies walking out of the forest. And here she is thinking no one drinks random things they find....]
eagle one to arisato minato san! this is sannomiya shiho doing a weekly checkin please come in arisato san
[She's in a much better mood, but he isn't.... he's still feeling pretty gnarly and rough, though he's at least had a couple of days to graduate from "vomiting his guts up" to "just really haggard and exhausted".
Which... he doesn't really want to tell her, but on the other hand, he promised...!!
So tiredly, he ends up looking at the message, and finally types out:]
Good to hear from you sannomiya san. Sorry I didn't check in with you first, this week had some kind of unexpected things. how are you?
[... Okay so his typing's sloppier than usual, it's probably fine.]
[ here is the fun thing about knowing where your friends live and being within walking range: if they don't respond to your messages as often as usual, you can just like...
[This is an astounding sort of technology, and Minato, for his part, has progressed from the "vomiting up his guts" part of the poisoning process to the "lay on the ground and wait for the sweet embrace of death" part of the process.
So when there's that knock, nobody is immediately answering it. Not until Minato finally, slowly drags himself up, disheveled and pale and with his hair a proper mess, to stumble his way down the stairs and to the door.
Sorry, Dave, please hold. Eventually, he'll open it.]
I am planning to throw a small birthday party for our friend Akechi, and would like to invite you. It's a secret, so I am telling you this in confidence; keep mum!
[Of course Guren had mentioned it to Akira, and so here he is, knocking on Minato's door to check on him. That guy didn't really do something dumb like drink poison, did he...?]
And he totally did do something that dumb... sorry, Akira. Either way, he wasn't in his room this time, but rather curled up downstairs--so it's a bit easier for him to haul himself over to the door, especially since the majority of his symptoms have started to fade by now.
He's still pale, though, hair totally disheveled and in general looking like a huge mess.
[ It was a little weird that Minato didn't show up for their Secret Sewing Society meeting - even though it was all his idea, to begin with - so Akechi is playing the role of Good President and checking up on him: ]
Arisato-kun? I see you couldn't attend our meeting today. Would you like to re-schedule?
[Minato takes some time to not look at the laptop for a bit after that, because the bright light only made his splitting headache even worse; by the time he glances at it, he's over the whole "throwing up his guts" aspect of things and has moved on to "dying slightly less".
But.
That message, amongst all of the inane chatter from Dave, is...
Dammit. He has to respond to this one.]
I'm so sorry, Akechi-san. I ended up a little sick... but I should've let you know.
[Spoilers: he was too sick to let Akechi know.]
I guess that's not a very good start for our secret society... Can we reschedule?
[Being basically not allowed to eat is about as fun as expected... Even less fun when you're in a place with no other colours save for blue. Yusuke's still in the midst of searching around for a familiar face.
But huh. Look at that. A basket of flavoured types of bread.
He gives them a long, scrutinising look... and then that look continues. And continues.
Yeah it may be a few solid minutes of staring at that.]
[Minato didn't show up for the patrol tonight, and it's seems so out of character for his friend that Izuku immediately assumes that something had happened.
So he forgoes the laptop entirely and makes a direct trip to Minato's place after, instead. Knock, knock?]
[... Yeah. On the 14th, Minato is definitely still recovering; he's pale, shaky on his feet, though he's at least gotten over his struggles with throwing up everything in his stomach.
Shakily, he makes his way to the door, and eventually he opens it, leaning rather heavily against the doorframe.
[ dave, a moron who has just recently discovered letting someone shoot an apple off his head gives him a completely useless but entertaining sort of ribbon: ]
minato i need you to shoot an apple off my head asap
