[It was almost stoically, Dave, he thought it was pretty good. Minato's just retrieving that sock quietly, squinting at Dave as he retakes his spot.]

When people are really, really hard-headed about things that they shouldn't be... then I get frustrated sometimes.

[Granted, the level he's talking about here is like "Takaya won't stop murdering people because he thinks he's right in doing so".

[ since it sails over dave's head, he moves to retrieve it, tossing it back to minato softly and underhand. ]

[Minato catches it with a nod of thanks, but when he thinks of Takaya like that...his fingers do dig into the balled up sock a bit. He takes a slow breath in, and slots it back into place in the slingshot.]

... There was someone I knew. He tended to think that anyone who didn't think the way he did about the world was a pathetic idiot.

[He takes aim, grimacing.]

He ended up making a cult, when things were pretty bad back home, preying on peoples' insecurities and fears.

[He fires! Whether it's talking about Takaya that sharpened his aim or just dumb luck, this time he knocks the apple off. He almost looks a little surprised himself, blinking.]

...Good job, dude. [ dave grins, although it flickers away. ]

Insecurities and fears, huh? Those are...pretty easy to take a dig at. Even accidentally.

[Minato's going to go fetch that apple and sock, because there's no sense in wasting resources here... And then he just offers Dave the slingshot, shrugging a little.]

Yeah... they are. I don't think anyone should take advantage of other people like that, no matter what their reasons are. It isn't fair.

What was your childhood like? Your family?

Well. Minato's quiet only for a moment, and then he shrugs a little.]

I'm an only child... I'm pretty sure my parents were good people. ["Pretty sure."]

When I was six, there was an accident, and I was the only one who survived. ... I just moved around a lot after that. [Which... is a lot of commentary on his childhood after all, even if he doesn't want to put words to it. He just didn't have a family, after all--he was shuffled from place to place, and never really did find a home to live in.]

If John does, yeah. [ dave sort of shrugs. ] I kind of want to stay, but I have a duty to go back. And I don't want to leave his side. And I miss Rose and Jade and everyone else. And most of them aren't...well, but that's gonna get fixed and I...want to be there if I can be. I don't know? Like, I want both things at the same time sometimes, you know? It's...nice here, and I prefer it to being dead, but that ain't a reason to ditch destiny.

[... He wishes he didn't, but... Minato understands that perspective more than he might even want to admit to.

Sometimes, there's a greater good that has to be fought for, something greater than their own lives, and a destiny that can't be undermined.]
